Eva, a popular high school teacher and wife of the mayor, falls in love with a young refugee, Amir. A clandestine relationship develops between them, the consequences of which could be devastating for both. Quiet fjords hide dark depths... A provocative and disturbing romance exploring privilege, power and cynical selfishness masquerading as sacrifice. Forty-eight-year-old Eva is not only a popular teacher but also the wife of the mayor of a picturesque Norwegian town. In an effort to support his election campaign, she volunteers at an asylum centre where she meets Amir, an eighteen-year-old refugee with a gift for poetry. Amir's talent captivates Eva. She provides him with support and even invites him to move into their home. While their marriage is in crisis, Eva and Amir become dangerously close. This psychological drama from debut director Nina Knag was presented in the main competition at the Karlovy Vary 2025 International Film Festival, where the lead actress Pia Tjelta took home the Female Actor Award.
