Only have one day to explore Pardubice? No problem. Here’s a simple plan to help you experience the best of the city – history, great food, modern architecture and a bit of relaxation.

Morning: Coffee, Views and the Historic Centre

Morning: Coffee, Views and the Historic Centre

Start your day with breakfast in one of the local cafés. The city offers plenty of options – from traditional cafés to modern brunch spots.

Then stop by the Tourist Information Centre on třída Míru. We’ll be happy to provide maps, brochures and useful tips for your visit. You can also buy traditional Pardubice gingerbread and other local products.

From there, head to the historic centre. Walk through the Green Gate and you’ll arrive at Pernštýnské Square, surrounded by Renaissance townhouses and the historic town hall.

Wander through the nearby streets such as Bartolomějská or Pernštýnská. Art lovers can also visit several galleries nearby, including the House at Jonah or the Mázhaus exhibition space.

Late Morning: Pardubice Castle and Lunch

From the square, walk through the small courtyard called Příhrádek to reach Pardubice Castle. Instead of classic castle interiors, you’ll find a museum with fascinating collections and stories.

The Renaissance palace was hidden by the Pernštejn family behind massive defensive ramparts. Inside you can see the Knights’ Halls with Renaissance paintings, the Chapel of the Three Kings and even a Cold War civil defence shelter.

For lunch, you don’t need to go far. Pernštýnské Square and třída Míru offer a wide range of restaurants – from traditional Czech cuisine to modern bistros.

With children

If you’re travelling with children, Pardubice offers plenty of options. Visit Natura Park, IQ Park, the rope centre or the Aquacentre.

A great tip is also the Fairy Garden, a rescue station for animals where children can see animals up close and learn about their stories.

In the Automatic Mills complex we also recommend Sféra – an educational centre with workshops and programmes that are fun for both children and adults.

More ideas for family activities can be found here.

Without children

Head to the Automatic Mills complex, one of the most interesting places in Pardubice today. You’ll find modern architecture, Gočár Gallery and GAMPA – the city’s gallery of contemporary art. On weekends, guided tours of the entire complex are also available.

Whether you’re visiting with children or not, don’t miss a walk through the city parks. Tyršovy Sady, surrounding the castle ramparts, offer greenery, peaceful paths and beautiful views of the historic walls. It’s a perfect place for a short break between sightseeing.

Evening

Evening

In the evening, enjoy dinner at one of the city’s many restaurants – from traditional Czech cuisine to modern gastronomy.

During summer, don’t miss the outdoor terraces of cafés, restaurants and wine bars in the historic centre. Sitting outside on a warm evening is a perfect way to end the day.

If you enjoy food events, try planning your visit during one of the city’s gastro festivals.

And if you discover that one day isn’t enough (which happens quite often), you can easily stay overnight in one of the local hotels or guesthouses.
