Nálety na Pardubice - komentovaná procházka s dokumentaristkou Šárkou Kuchtovou

Pardubice experienced three air raids in 1944, which resulted in nearly 300 deaths, many hundreds of wounded and huge material damage. Houses were repaired or new ones built, but for the people the bombing remained one of the worst traumas of the war.

Participants will start the guided walk in front of the old train station, which took a direct hit during the August air raid. The people sheltering in the shelter survived except for one person. Unfortunately, people hiding in a public shelter a few streets away were not as lucky, suffocating under the rubble. During the walk, they visit a replica air-raid shelter, and in the dark and silence, they learn how long it took people from the sound of the siren to find shelter. What and who might they have been thinking about when they heard the whistle of bombs falling and the ground beneath their feet rumbling with explosions? The walk ends at the memorial to the August air raid on the carpenter Svoboda, who lost almost his entire family in a minute.

The guided tour will be accompanied by a screening of photographs and testimonies of witnesses of the air raids recorded by the Memory of the Nation.
