Educational trails and guided tours dedicated to local heroes
In Pardubice, the theme In the Footsteps of Heroes is presented through two educational trails – In the Footsteps of Silver A and Quarantine: The Story of a Forgotten Military Hospital. Both routes can be explored independently using the SmartGuide app, or you can join a guided tour.
Guided tours can be arranged for groups at the Pardubice Tourist Information Centre. From May to October, tours are also offered as part of regular Saturday guided walks according to the current programme.
Pardubice in the Footsteps of Silver A
During World War II, Pardubice played an important role in the anti-Nazi resistance. The trail Pardubice in the Footsteps of Silver A takes you to places connected with the final journey of Alfred Bartoš, commander of the Silver A paratrooper group. His unit was one of the most important resistance groups in the region and cooperated with the Anthropoid group during the assassination of Reinhard Heydrich.
The trail offers:
Short route through the historic city centre
Longer route across several parts of Pardubice
Quarantine: The Story of a Forgotten Military Hospital
This trail explores the site of a former military hospital that was once the largest of its kind in Europe. Located in the area of today’s Dukla district, the route introduces the everyday life of medical staff and wounded soldiers.
Across nine stops, you will learn why the hospital was unique and why it was known as the “Barrack Town”.
