Event description

17 December - programme Christmas under Socialism (Petra Štěpánová, Jan Krčál)
The East Bohemian Museum has prepared a special programme for active seniors.
The course full of lectures, guided tours and walks takes place in the lecture hall at the Pardubice Castle or in its surroundings, usually once every 14 days - always on Wednesdays from 9 am and 3 pm.
7 January - guided tour of the exhibition Life on a housing estate (Jan Ivanega, Ondřej Zikl)
The exhibition will be guided by its author, art historian Jan Ivanega, and restorer Ondřej Zikl. In their interpretation they will focus on what all precedes the display of the work. Because the opening of the exhibition is only the imaginary icing on the cake of a demanding and at first sight invisible work.

21 January - lecture He is looking for her and she is looking for him (Kateřina Kovalčuková)
Regional press from the collections of the East Bohemian Museum in Pardubice will once again reveal another of its interesting sections. This time it will be dating advertisements. What did people look for their ideal counterpart at the turn of the 19th and 20th century? What role did appearance play and what qualities did they prefer?

4. 2. - lecture "A. Bydžovský Bookbinding": more than half a century of unique bookbinding in Pardubice (Ondřej Zikl)
A lecture with a picture projection dedicated to the life and work of the artistic bookbinder Alexander Bydžovský and his family, which was active in Pardubice since 1896. A probe into the work of three generations of craftsmen on their way from the 19th to the 20th century. The lecture will be accompanied by examples of artistic realisations of bookbindings produced by the Bydžovsky family.

11 February - lecture Pardubice in film (Václava Kofránková); only from 3 pm
Pardubice was and is a grateful backdrop and inspiration for many unforgettable films. The city has made its mark in the history of our cinema thanks to its fascinating mix of historical and modern architecture, which allows filmmakers to evoke different historical periods with relative ease. The lecture will recall famous works such as The Honest Lady of Pardubice, The Higher Principle, The Girl on the Broom and The Burning of the Dead, as well as others that made Pardubice and the surrounding region famous as an interesting film location.

18th February - lecture Markoman Wars (Jan Jílek)
The Marcomannic Wars (166-180 AD) represent an important conflict between two worlds. On one side stood the Roman Empire and on the other the Germanic and Sarmatian tribes. The lecture will focus on the background, course and consequences of this military conflict, which foreshadowed the great migration of peoples in the 5th and 6th centuries. The audience will learn about the sources and interpretation of this event. This is a period when Roman legions and auxiliary corps operated in our territory and in which the Roman emperor Marcus Aurelius, known to the general public as the philosopher on the throne, was personally involved.
