Event description

An exploration of mid-western Turkey part 2
(Istanbul Topkapi Palace, Hagia Sofia, Bosphorus cruise, Bursa, Troy, Pergamon, Asklepion, Ephesus and Pamukale)

At the beginning of the second part of the tour, we enter the Sultan's Topkapi Palace, after which we visit the nearby Hagia Sofia Mosque, which was originally a Christian temple. A treat for the eyes in the afternoon was a two-hour, 20 km cruise through the Bosphorus Strait. In the evening, as in the morning, we will pass through two of Istanbul's markets. After a tour of the New Mosque, we return to Asia via the Bosphorus Bridge. We cross the Sea of Marmara by ferry, beyond which three sights await us in Bursa. On the eighth day, the bus heads to the Dardanelles, where we spend almost three hours exploring the site of Troy. It was here that amateur archaeologist Heinrich Schliemann unearthed a golden treasure. On the penultimate day of sightseeing, we visit Pergamon and the nearby ancient baths of Asklepion. The day does not end there, however, as the most precious experience awaits us, which is the former ancient city of Ephesus. It is dominated not only by the Library of Celsus, but by the largest ancient theatre in Asia Minor. We will also see the remains of the Temple of Artemis, which is considered one of the Seven Wonders of the World. We will also visit the house of the Mother Mary on nearby Nightingale Hill. We will end our nine-day sightseeing tour in Pamukala on the unique limestone terraces.

The video film will be screened as part of the spring cycle of screenings of the Czech Tourist Club Synthesia Pardubice in the Kašpar Hall of the Regional Office on Wednesday, 11 February at 5 pm.
