Týden na Slovensku 2002
Slovakia natural and historical attractions of the country.
And not only Slovakia. Three shorter stops were already in Moravia. We started our eight-day journey at Svatý Kopeček near Olomouc, continued with a tour of two Rožnov open-air museums and a walk from Pusteven to the top of Radhoštěd. Crossing part of the ridge of the Vrátná valley from the Snilovský saddle through Chlieb, Stoh and the Medziholie saddle to Štefanová and passing through the Dolní Janošíký holes gave everyone a lot of work. The third day we devoted to the Roháče by hiking around all four Roháčské ples. On the fourth day we crossed to the High Tatras, where we walked part of the main trail from Skalnate pleso, along Studenovodské vodopády to Hrebienok. Our second, probably the most difficult hike, started at Hrebienok. It was directed to Velický and further to Batizovský pleso. Below Osterva, the most beautiful view was probably the one of the Popradské pleso deep below us. Then we filled our well-deserved rest day with a rafting trip through the wild Danube River and spent the afternoon together in the thermal water in Vrbov. On the seventh day we visited the Slovak Paradise with the Hornád river crossing. In the evening, the opening words of the Slovak anthem came true. But we didn't mind the bad weather, even under Chopok. After the last brynz halušky in Zvolen and a tour of the exteriors of the "fairy-tale" castle in Bojnice we left the country of our neighbours.
