Phoenix
Taking care of the sick is no easy task, especially when they are about to meet their inevitable death. The observational documentary Phoenix is a glimpse into the lives of workers who deal with death and its consequences on a daily basis. They soothe the pain of the dying - through palliative care, and for the bereaved, by preparing individual funeral rites. The camera travels in the immediate vicinity of death, it is not a narrator, but a mere observer. The film seeks solace in the eternal symbols of birds, messengers of the unspoken. It thus shows that even death can bring many joyful reconciliations.
