Roel van der Linden will present a series of landscape paintings that are at first sight realistic, but somehow dominated by floating objects, strange unknown shapes and abstract elements. This results in dreamy, slightly surreal scenes in which we perceive quotations and references to 17th century Dutch landscape painting and perhaps a nostalgia for a landscape that no longer exists today. Human intervention turns it into a tamed, artificial, or even damaged, but serving one. The landscape is inhabited by uninvited elements, infested and subjected to a dream world in unexpected tension, leaving the viewer unsure of what is actually unfolding before them.
