Green Gate
The Green Gate is one of the most important landmarks of Pardubice and together with the castle it dominates the historical centre of the town. The building consists of a Renaissance entrance gate, the facade of which is decorated with a relief designed by Mikoláš Aleš, depicting the coat of arms of the Lords of Pardubice.
Exhibitions of local artists are regularly held in the inner space of the forecourt. Behind the entrance gate, a stone tower rises nearly 60 metres high, offering a magnificent view of the town conservation area, the castle and the surrounding area, including Kunětická hora Castle.
Upon ascending to the gallery, visitors will find an audio-visual exhibition called The Chronicle of Pardubice, which will introduce everyone to the legends connected with the history of our town. There are also great resting places, thanks to which non-athletes can catch their breath and climb all 154 steps without any problems.
The youngest visitors shouldn't miss the opportunity to play a game of Secrets of the Green Gate. After solving the mystery using the clues in the tower, all you have to do is show a little heroism and the reward is certain! With children, the Little Chronicler's Corner is also worth a visit, where you can become a scribe or a builder for a while.
