Muzejní akademie: Prohlídka Leopold I. a Karel VI. v Pardubicích. Habsburské portréty na východě Čech
Event description

A Special Program for Active Seniors

In the fall of 2026, we will commemorate a significant anniversary: half a millennium since the Habsburg Archduke ascended the Czech throne. Together with art historian Jan Ivanega, we’ll take a look at the aristocratic estates of Eastern Bohemia. What did the interiors of famous castles, such as Choltice or Doudleby, look like several centuries ago? What paintings hung there, and why? Were there Habsburg portraits among them? If so, what was their purpose? We’ll visit the homes of the Kinsky, Paar, and Thun families and other leading families of the monarchy, and perhaps even one of the town halls in East Bohemia.

Are you interested in the world around you and want to learn more about history, art, natural sciences, architecture, archaeology, or the work of museum professionals? Are you fascinated by the stories behind objects and people, or do you enjoy going on field trips? The East Bohemian Museum in Pardubice has prepared the Museum Academy educational program just for you.

This course, filled with lectures, guided tours, walks, workshops, and field trips takes place in the lecture hall of Pardubice Castle, in its surroundings, or at the museum’s storage facility in Ohrazenice, on irregular Wednesdays starting at 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
