Pernštejnská rezidence – nejstarší renesance v Čechách
In the new tour, the East Bohemian Museum will bring to life the story of the noble seat of Pardubice in a fascinating and original way.The main story will be framed by the years 1491 and 1560, when the Lords of Pernštejn were active in the town. Three generations of one of the most influential families of the European aristocracy of the Renaissance era began to systematically expand their dominions from Moravia to eastern Bohemia thanks to the merit and foresight of William of Pernštejn, who transferred the family residence to Pardubice. This was also the beginning of the generous reconstruction of the castle and town into a representative residence setting the tone for contemporary architecture. In five thematic sections and in authentic backdrops of preserved architecture and paintings, the visitors will be guided through the most historically valuable parts of the national cultural monument Pardubice Castle, even to places that were previously inaccessible. The presentation of the castle will also include the massive ramparts and walls, which enclosed extremely large armoury stores, which allowed for the rapid arming of the land's cash army. Visitors can directly experience the technical design and handling of the cold and fire weapons of the time in the exhibition of the Perštejn armoury.
