Bełchatów, Poland
Bełchatów is located in central Poland in the Łódź Voivodeship and the Bełchatów Region, about 160 km from the Polish capital, Warsaw. Bełchatów is home to the largest coal-fired power plant in Europe, named Elektrownia Bełchatów, which is capable of producing up to 27-28 TWh of electricity per year, which is about 20% of Poland's total consumption. Near the town there are also huge coal mines. Bełchatów is a modern industrial city. It is home to almost 60 000 inhabitants. Like Pardubice, it is a city of sport. It is home to successful sports clubs such as the football club GKS Bełchatów and the volleyball club Skra Bełchatów.
